The best time to visit Coron for scuba diving is during the dry season from December to June, when you can expect favourable conditions. The waters are warm enough to dive in a 3mm wetsuit and you will be able to explore the wrecks without risk of decompression sickness. However, the wrecks are still worth visiting during the wet season from July to October.

For a more adventurous experience, consider taking part in free diving at Coron. With a little bit of training (2 days), you can dive underwater in Coron with just fins and a snorkel, rather than a breathing apparatus. There are a handful of preset island tours on offer, which include diving at some of the top sites around Coron.

The best way to reach Coron is by flying from Manila to Busuanga Island, the largest of the Calamian Islands in northern Palawan. The airport is a short taxi ride from the town of Coron, and there are regular flights from Manila to Busuanga. There are also daily ferries from Busuanga to El Nido for those looking to continue their Palawan adventure.
